Health, Safety & Environmental Manager EMEA (10/2010 – 09/2013)

Washing machine factory, Porcia (PN), Italy

Reporting to the SVP for Operations EMEA, I was in charge for Health, Safety & Environment on an EMEA level providing support to all the European and Egyptian factories.


  • Reduced TCIR (Total Case Incident Rate) in Europe from 4.5 to 0.5 in five years.
  • Developed and implemented in all the factories the Electrolux Safety Management System.

Health, Safety & Environmental Officer Europe (09/2007 – 09/2010)

Washing machine factory, Porcia (PN), Italy

In charge, within the Central Industrial Engineering Department, for Health, Safety & Environment on a pan-European level providing support to all the 20 European factories.


  • Implemented in all the European factories the DuPont STOP programme.
  • Conducted and co-ordinated accident investigations, ensured the provision of fire prevention and emergency procedures, led health and safety committees and provided inspections.
  • Supervised the Electrolux Green Spirit programme for a sustainable development aimed to reduce energy and water consumption of all the European factories by 15% in four years.

Senior Industrial Engineer (Project Manager) (09/2004 – 08/2007)

Recruited to be part of an international industrial engineering team responsible for the technical support of all the European factories to the main activities of production and product/process industrialization, contributing to shape the Group industrial strategies, I worked on major projects carrying out:


  • introduction and advancement of Lean Manufacturing principles and practices across the factories;
  • evaluation of scenarios for manufacturing rationalization and standardization within Europe;
  • development of production capacity, strategic and restructuring plans;

Dishwasher factory, Solaro (MI), Italy (11/2005 – 08/2007)


  • Polish factory production capacity increase – Led a team of 8 italian and polish engineers that designed and installed a new assembly line in a polish dishwashers plant to reach a production capacity of 1 Munits/year. Negotiated a new 3-press line for stamping metal parts. Managed a total budget of 3,5 MEur.
  • Production relocation – Led an international team of 15 people responsible for the production relocation of a dishwasher for the Swiss market from Nuremberg factory to Solaro factory. The project was executed in a very short time frame (6 months) and with a budget of 1 MEur. Designed and installed a new assembly line. Applied Lean Manufacturing principles like “5S”, “7 wastes elimination” and “standardized work”.

Refrigerator factory, Susegana (TV), Italy (09/2004 – 10/2005)


  • Low Cost Country (LCC) supplier development – Led an international task force team of 8 people that supported the production start-up of a Hungarian supplier of “evaporators” for the Electrolux Hungarian and Swedish refrigerators factories. Widely travelled in Hungary.
  • Revision of material flow – Led an interdisciplinary team of 10 people responsible for the flow revision of inbound and internal materials. Reduced the stock of components by 2 days and the personnel by 8 people by means of lean manufacturing principles. Worked closely with all levels of management, production control, purchasing, IT, production operators and maintenance department.
  • OEE improvement of thermoforming machines – Improved by 5% the OEE of thermoforming machines used to produce inner liners for refrigerators. Production cycle time was optimized and reduced, the die exchange time was reduced by 30%, the most of the failures eliminated (availability increase).

Supervised a team of 3 engineers and 11 technicians, with full responsibility for leadership, teamwork, technical proficiency and discipline.   • Supervised the installation of 10 new processing tools and qualified the processes. Met all the production deadlines. Originated documentation used during the qualification process.

Recruited to play a key role in the start-up of a new production line of 16Mbit DRAM devices (0.5um technology). Responsible for process control and development, ensured that cost and quality standards were achieved.


  • Selected for a 3-member team responsible for technology transfer from a production plant located in Singapore, where I lived for five months.
  • Led the installation and qualification of more than 20 semiconductor processing equipment in a class 1 clean room environment. Gained hands-on experience in Radio Frequency (RF) and High Vacuum (HVAC) systems.
  • Improved efficiency and availability of equipment tools increasing throughput by 30%. Reduced by 50% the defectiveness. Evaluated components of equipment, resulting in cost savings of $200,000 per year.
